Meal Plan Access

Access Your Meal Plan With Your KU ID Card:

Kutztown University uses a computerized ID system. Your ID card is your admission ticket to the dining facilities. Door checker stations are located at the entrance of the dining halls. When an ID card is inserted into the card reader, the encoded data on the magnetic strip is electronically scanned and sent to the system database. This process verifies if the card is valid or invalid. It will be necessary to show the checker your card each time you enter the dining hall. The ID system protects you against meal card abuse. Since this system is being used to prevent unauthorized persons from using the food services for which you paid, ID cards are not transferable for any reason. Notify Sharon Housel in the Food Contract Office if you have any problems with your meal plan at 610-683-1314.

Dining Flex Accounts

Any student can have a dining flex dollar "declining debit" account. It can only be used at dining service locations on campus. Your account is accessed through your student ID card.

Students who are living off-campus who do not choose to select one of the nine meal plan choices are eligible to open a flex only dining account. This is a "declining debit" account that can only be used at dining service locations on campus. Because you have not selected a meal plan, you will need $100.00 to open this account.

If you selected a Gold meal plan, a $150.00 dining flex dollar account is already included. After you have spent the $150.00 dining flex dollars, you may add dining flex dollars to your account in increments of $25.00.

If you selected a Maroon meal plan, you may also want to open a dining flex dollar account. You may open a dining flex dollar account with a Maroon meal plan for $25.00. You may add dining flex dollars to your account in increments of $25.00.

Unused balances at the end of the Fall semester will roll over to the Spring semester. Dining flex dollars are non-refundable, so you may not want to open an account with more money than you need. At the end of the Spring semester, any remaining dining flex dollars are non-refundable.

You can add money to your dining flex dollar account, check your balance, review transaction history and suspend your card at any time. Simply contact the Bursar's Office to make a deposit only or visit www.kutztown.edu/kucard for all other transactions.

General Information and Contract Policies:

  1. Any student registered for classes may purchase a meal plan. Students living in the residence halls (except Golden Bear Village Apartments, Honors Building, and efficiency apartments at Dixon Hall) must have a 15 or 19 Gold or Maroon, or a 175 Block meal plan. Refer to the meal plan brochure for more information.
  2. All students who participate in a meal plan must complete a meal plan CONTRACT. By signing the contract, you are obligated to pay the fees each semester, and also agree to the terms and conditions of the meal plans. You will have the same meal plan in the Spring Semester that you had for the Fall Semester unless you make necessary changes. Changes are restricted to your housing status for each semester.
  3. If you wish to cancel your meal plan, or should your housing arrangements change, you MUST notify the Food Contract Office in writing. Otherwise, this contract is binding for the entire semester.
  4. August 29, 2009…Fall meal plan begins.
  5. January 17, 2010…Spring meal plan begins.
  6. Meals and ID cards are non-transferable and may not be used by any other person. However, every student's meal plan will offer five guest meals for use at the Galleria located in the South Dining Hall.
  7. Dining Flex dollars are non-refundable and should be used before the end of the Spring 2010 semester.
  8. Students who withdraw from the university are entitled to a refund (% of their meal plan and unused dining flex dollars), according to the university refund policy, through the fifth week of classes. The official withdrawal date or date of last meal plan or flex dining dollar use (whichever is later), will be used to determine the actual refund amount.
  9. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Medical Concerns:

Requests to be exempt from a meal plan for medical reasons (while living in the residence halls), must be submitted each semester. Contact the Food Contract Office for a Meal Plan Exemption Form. All requests, for the Fall & Spring semesters, must be returned to the Food Contract Office one month prior to the start of the semester. After the requests are reviewed, the student will be notified of the outcome prior to the start of the semester.
